This book is essentially a wonderful story of Jannette Fulda, who at the age of 23 decided to embark on a journey towards fitness and weight loss after undergoing a gall bladder operation.
Jannette Fulda, now a successful writer and blogger, was 372 pounds before the surgery. This very well-written book follows her entire journey while describing her mental and emotional states at each stage.
She has made the book even more interesting by adding a lot of personal touches while using some good old self-deprecating humor every now and then.
Her story will essentially feel like a narration of events in a social help group but is nonetheless very impactful. Each time she describes her own determination and passion to lose weight it does spill over into the mind of the reader.
In her blog too she describes various instances of how she lost 200 pounds through exercise and dieting. Her book drives home the fact that there is no short cut to success in any path you may be waking on. It is the good old hard work and perseverance that win the race in the end.
A word of caution regarding this book would be that it does not describe her diet details or her workout regimes. Instead solely focuses on her mental and emotional aspects throughout this wonderful journey to fitness which is very much required.
Definitely a recommendation! A fresh perspective to get motivation.
So if you want to lose weight the Jannette Fulda way, you need to buy and read this book now!

She provides a plethora of recipes along with her diet plan which is amazingly diverse and tasty. Even though a lot of her recipes are quite lengthy and the list of ingredients can be a little too long, I personally love her innovative ideas.

4. Never Binge Again: Reprogram Yourself to Think Like a Permanently Thin Person. Stop Overeating and Binge Eating and Stick to the Food Plan of Your Choice!
In a world where knowledge and awareness about mental illness and mental health are on the rise, people have come to treat binge-eating and other eating disorders with more seriousness and sensitivity.
In this book, Glenn Livingston describes in a very simple and direct manner describes that the entity in your mind that promotes you to binge despite knowing that it is obviously bad for your body is the negative inclination in your mind that you have to kill which he repeatedly refers to as the “Pig”.
In a very straight forward manner the writer manages to convey that even though self-love and having healthy self-image is one of the ways to overcome this problem of binge eating, it is ultimately you inner “Pig” that you have to starve and overcome your desires.
He clearly establishes that it is a “primitive” part of your brain that commands you to do fulfill those desires which are harmful to you. He encourages you to look at that part as a separate entity so that it becomes much easier for you to study it without bias.
The only word of caution before picking up this book would be the use of callous and football-coach sort of a language. The book does openly speak of determination and perseverance as the key to weight loss and stopping yourself from binge eating.
All in all, a wonderful book to keep you motivated and remind you that YOU are in control here.
Joel Fuhrman in this book supports veganism and encourages us to try it out. As simple as that.
President of the Nutritional Research Foundation, Joel Fuhrman gives a six-week plan based on his intensive research on toxic hunger and how certain foods promote you to eat a lot more than the number of calories. This is what he called the toxic hunger.
He makes clear that micro-nutrient rich food not only adds to the vitamin and mineral index of your body but also help in maintaining true hunger and helps get over cravings and unnecessary urges.
Through his book, I felt that he conveyed support for a mainly plant-based diet and actively discourages animal products. He repeats at various points that food from animals, be it the meat of any kind or dairy products, are not good for your liver functioning.
The reviews that this book has gotten high praise the fact that it helps with many health conditions. A lady wrote back to him saying that once she started this diet full-on she could manage effectively without taking medicines for RA. A year into the diet she was completely off medicines and was living a healthy life.
Hence, if you want to get overpower your urges and get your life on track in a disciplined and copious way, pick up this book and give it a good read!
Lose weight by giving just 8 minutes? Sounds like a con, right?
But Jorge Cruise, fitness expert and trainer to the celebrities makes you believe in this insane idea through his amazing book.
Honestly, this book is a complete package. It includes everything right from fitness regimes to diet plans to great motivational tips and tricks.
If you are a person who is intimidated by the gym or run on a tight schedule, this is the best book for you.
Jorge’s plan essentially includes doing 4 sets of two different strength based exercises for 6 days in a week. For food, he says that you need to take a lot of fat and strength providing foods to keep up with the increased metabolic rate that the exercises provided.
Another good thing about his plan is that he repeatedly says that there is nothing that you “cannot” eat. Though he does suggest that some food items are better than others, he not once asks you to stop eating something.
There are very helpful little tit-bits that are interesting and make you want to stay engaged in the routine. For example, he asks you to see a journal which would help you maintain your routine and make you look forward to getting a perfect score for a day, i.e., complete your exercise and follow your diet obediently.
His book makes you feel happy with the idea of fitness. My favorite part about the book is how he has included motivational speeches and quotes that you can throw at yourself each morning and whenever you feel low.
A very balanced and personal book.
Liked his approach?
This book is one of the most well-written and informative books. Susan Peirce Thompson is an Adjunct Associate Professor of Brain and Cognitive Sciences at the University of Rochester and an expert in the psychology of eating.
Through this book, I almost feel like she talks to readers like a teacher. Concepts such as craving and hunger are very well explained from the biological, psychological and neuroscience perspective.
All in all, it is a comprehensive book that helps you reverse the process go falling out of your diet each time.
Something to be noted is that the diet may seem slightly restrictive but a great thing about this diet is the inclusivity. It works for people who are vegan, vegetarian, and lactose intolerant.
Do pick up this book especially if you are interested in knowing more about your body and want to know how to manage it.
Fun fact: She is also President of the Institute for Sustainable Weight Loss and the Founder and CEO of Bright Line Eating Solutions. For all those medical fanatics out there. :p
Do you need any other reason to buy and read this book?
In conclusion, I want to say that reading is definitely a great way to get some motivation and get knowledge. Keep reading along with applying that knowledge.
